REIMAGINE THE CROSS BRONX EXPRESSWAY

Reimagine the Cross Bronx is a collective effort with communities to re-envision the Cross Bronx Expressway from the Harlem River to the Hutchinson River Parkway, helping to reconnect the communities divided by it and lessen the negative effects it has had on surrounding neighborhoods. MPBID in partnership with Loving The Bronx are DOT Community Partners on this project.

INFRASTRUCTURE UPGRADES - UNDERGROUNDING OF UTILITY CABLES

MPBID advocates for the undergrounding of utility cables currently above-ground in the East section of Morris Park Ave. We want to see the unsightly ConEd wooden poles currently in place East of Bronxdale Ave being replaced with DOT metallic “M-Poles” as existing on the West side of Morris Park Avenue. We advocate for this infrastructure upgrade to be implemented on the East of Bronxdale side of the corridor, for a more modern and cohesive commercial environment and improved streetscape and pedestrian experience for the public.

Morris Park Avenue view from Radcliff Ave towards East: ConEd wooden poles, transformer boxes and longitudinal and transversal above ground cables give the corridor a cluttered aspect.

Morris Park Avenue at Matthews Ave (view towards East) and at Barnes Ave (view towards West) showing DOT metallic “M-poles” (historic style), and no presence of over the ground cables. We advocate for this type of infrastructure to be implemented on the East of Bronxdale side of the corridor, for a more modern and more cohesive commercial environment and improved streetscape.
